Brief of Incident

On 4th April’2019 at about 1000 hrs, a road & culvert construction protection party consisting of 02 SO and 22 ORs including No.140810570 Constable(GD) Seelam Ramakrishna, of BSF and one from Chhattisgarh Police, total-25 left from COB Mahla in general area of COB Mahla Katgaon road near Mahla Nala to protect construction work of culvert across Mahla Nala. At about 041030 hrs when party reached at Mahla Nala, about 200 to 250 Maoists naxals and their supporters who were hidden in nearby jungle & hill area suddenly blasted IED’s and opened heavy volume of fire on BSF troops. BSF troops also retaliated by firing on the Maoist. The ensuing encounter lasted for about 2.5 hours. Unfortunately, during exchange of fire, No.140810570 Constable(GD) Seelam Ramakrishna alongwith three other BSF personnel sustained grievous bullet/splinter injuries and attained martyrdom.
