Brief of Incident

On 28 April 2015, Constable Nitin Kumar Pandey of 144 Bn BSF was performing ACP duty  in area of BOP Dublia (West Bengal). At about 0415 hrs, ACP party observed around 40-50 cattle smugglers/criminals along with 40-50 Nos cattle heads were trying to cross from India to Bangladesh side and ACP party challenged them to stop and surrender. But smugglers assaulted ACP party by  firing from country made Pistol (Katta), pelting stone, sharp edged dah & lathis etc and throwing country made bombs. ACP party reacted by firing PAG and 02 rounds of rifle fire and sought reinforcement from QRT & flanking ACP of BOP Dublia. On arrival of reinforcement, smugglers/TBCS fled away from the spot. While searching the area, Constable Nitin Kumar Pandey was found seriously injured and immediately evacuated to hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

His commitment and supreme sacrifice in the line of duty shall always be remembered by the nation.
